LO1: Task 2 analysis of audio visual promos: The amazing Spiderman.

Genre: The Genre of the film is clearly a super natural action film, as it involves both action and super heroes.

Content and Meaning: The story of the whole thing is basically about spiderman before the other spiderman films, it shows his past life before he met Mary Jane and mastered his powers. The start shows when he was kid and how his parents left him, and eventually develops to show him as a lonely teenager living with his aunty and uncle. The trailer portrays his awkward relationship with a girl, and how choked up and nervous he gets around her, but then it shows the relationship develop into something special as the trailer goes on. There is a change of music and you see the main character in a science lab looking around, and then when the spider appears thats when it sort of gives away that the film might be something to do with spiderman, as you can see him turning strange after being bit by it. The string he pulls from his neck looks like what a spider makes with it's web, this connotes that the spider has effected him, this is also is shown when you see him staring weird at a fly, because flies are what spiders catch in their web and eat. After this it shows the genre of action very clear, you hear loud fast music and see the main character swinging from wall to wall like a spider. You see the first appearance of spider man's famous costume for less than a second, this is when all the audience know that the film is about Spiderman.

Form: The first shot of the trailer was an establishing shot of New York, this connotes that the movie is based in New York. 0.28 seconds in it goes from a shot of a little kid looking in the window that then merges into him looking in the mirror when he's older, i think that this was one of the most effective shots in the trailer. 0.37 seconds in you see a crowd shot, with the main actor walking the opposite way in the centre, it is put into slow motion to fit with the sound track on the trailer because it is quite a slow pace melody. 0.42 is the first appearance of the main female role of the film, she turns back to look at the boy and it blurs her out and puts the focus onto him. 1.09 seconds you see a shot of the main character and a spider, this reveals the story of the film and how he turned into spiderman, i think this was a good shot because it's hard to make a spider that clear on camera. 1.30 into the trailer you see a high angle shot of the female role in the rain, because the camera angle was high it made her look small and sad, which i think is quite effective. 1.40 in you see a split second of spiderman in his famous costume, this is to show that the film is about spiderman, as it wasn't really obvious to the audience before.

The shot you see above is 1.44 in to the trailer, i think this is a very important shot because it shows how high up on the building Spiderman is. You know it is spiderman because you see spiderman's legs jump to the other building a few seconds after. You can tell the rest of the trailer is all CGI.
This shot is the last shot in the trailer, it shows the full appearance of spiderman in his costume, this intrigues the audience and makes them want to watch more.
The Costume of the male character when he is not in his spiderman suit, is simple t shirt and jeans, but when he is playing the part of spiderman he wears his famous red and blue morph suit style costume. The female role is quite a feminine character, she always has her hair quite girly, either neatly put back or down with curls, her makeup is kept simple so she doesn't look to old as she is playing a seventeen year old, and her outfits are the stereotypical fashion of a young female apart from when she is working in her science lab coat.

Purpose: The purpose of the trailer is to advertise the new Amazing Spiderman, and intrigue DC fans who like the original spiderman to watch.

Audience: The audience of the film varies, it is typically aimed at super hero lovers and people who enjoyed the past spiderman's, but i don't think it has a certain age because it is a film kids and adults love.
